What would you do with a thousand dollars?

Weeks ago Oprah gave everyone in her audience a thousand dollars and told them that they had to give it to someone else! She didn't care what they did with it as long as it was spent or gave to someone other than themselves! A few people donated it to church's and few people had fund raisers with the money to make more money, but this one woman decided to just go to a grocery store and hand out the money! She approached one lady, and handed her around $200.00, the lady bursted in to tears and started explaining how, she was raising her grandkids cause her daughter was in a terrible accident and there was no one to take care of her kids.

My point is............ we never know what's going on in lives of the person who just passed us in the grocery store, or on the street, so if I had 1000.00 that I had to use on anything or anyone but myself I would want to know everyone's story! I would ask people who needed the money to tell me why they needed the money. I can only imagine the stories I would hear.

Now, why would I want to know about other peoples problems and why they would need the thousand dollars? Well, I believe that just having someone to care is enough to change someone's situation completely. How often did you just need someone to talk to but there was nobody there, and a lot of times people won't open up to you but if they thought they could get 1000.00 just by telling me their story I am betting they would.

So what would you do thousand dollars if someone gave it to you and said you have to spend this on anyone or anything but yourself? Would you donate it to charity? Would you give it to a needy family? Or would you simply leave one unsuspecting waiter/waitress a very large tip?

Role Models?

When you think of good role models you think of, Jesus, The Pope, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, but do you really think Paris Hilton?

Not if your playing with a full deck of cards you don't! Brittany Spears who is fresh out of a Divorce from jerk face K-Fed is out party with Paris Hilton in to the wee hours of the night! Brittany has gone as far as to say that Paris is her role model and she is lucky to have her around right now!

Brittany honey I don't know if you are aware of this but.........YOU HAVE TWO BABIES.....GO HOME AND TAKE CARE OF THEM...........THEY ALREADY HAVE A DEAD BEAT DADDY........ YOU CAN OFFER THEM SOME MUCH NEEDED PROTECTION!

Don't get me wrong I feel bad for the girl for having to raise two kids on her own but come on is she really going to be raising them on her own? NO! You and I both know that she had more hands to help her than a Queen has servants. Grow up, Put on some clothes, Make new friends, and Raise your babies! I hate to use this statement but it is SOOOOOOO appropriate...........
BRITTANY YOU MADE YOUR BED NOW YOU HAVE TO LAY IN IT!!!!!!!!

I shopped!

Z-Rockers

I did it and I survived! I can't believe I made it through yet another Black Friday! My Brother Rusty and I decided to brave the stores of Huntington! My morning started at 2:00am I didn't even go to sleep I just stayed up after work, I waited patiently for my brother to call and when he finally called to say he was ready I was out the door to pick him up! We made it to Huntington in record time a trip that should take 2 hours took about an hour and fifteen minutes (sorry coppers) Just as we approached the Target exit which is a mile away from the mall exit, there was a line of traffic stopped NOT slowed down STOPPED! I looked at my brother with a shocked expression, "surely this is not where the line starts for the mall exit is it?" I asked cautiously. "No way" he said "there has to be an accident", HE WAS WRONG, it was traffic trying to get off the EXIT back up a mile away!

I knew that it was going to be crazy but instead of deterring me from the shopping scene it only fueled my money spending fire! We made it to the mall exit and it took us 45 minutes JUST TO GET OFF THE EXIT! Once in the mall parking lot it was no holds bar, I was out of control, I spent my whole pay check and then some! I was a woman on the verge of breakdown, until my brother insisting on eating. He said "Tia, your starving your Big Brother to DEATH I have to eat!"

So..............I took the big winy baby to eat, and then it was back to shopping, I stood in line at one store for OVER 2 hours! I know that's insane but I just couldn't pass up 50% off and money back rebates!

After 10 hours of shopping my wimpy brother gave out on me and I too surrendered the Black Friday Shopping Madness! Sure I spent every dime I had but hey Black Friday only comes once a year which is a really good thing, otherwise, I would be living in shoe boxes from Macy's and old navy plastic bags.

Shopping is a Sport!

Day after Thanksgiving sales!
To shop or not to shop that is the question!

Do I really want to wake up at 5am, fight with rude people, wait in long lines, just to save a buck or two?........

YOU BET YOUR LITTLE RED HINEY I DO!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to wake up at 5:00am the day after Thanksgiving and hit the stores and shop until I absolutely drop! I want to push and shove my way to that last Hello Kitty doll, I want to claw my way to the Play Station Portable games and I want to gnawl at the competition when it comes to getting my hands on the last wide screen version Monster House DVD! Yeah I have it bad and there's nothing I can do about it! I have been hitting the Day after Thanksgiving Sales since I was 13 years old and it has been a downwards spiral ever since. I think I need help!
Well I think I will go make my shopping list and stretch out my muscles Friday morning will come fast and I need to be prepared!

Happy Thanksgiving, but more importantly Happy Shopping, and if you see my coming up behind you just step away from the cashmere sweater and run away cause if you don't I'll have to hurt you! HAHAHAHA! Just Kidding!

What are you thankful for?

I told you yesterday that I was going to talk about what I am thankful for, in honor of Thanksgiving so here goes.........

If you haven't noticed we live in America the most wonderful country in the world! We are allowed to pray, vote, have freedom of speech, and the right to use our own means of expressing ourselves! This is a good country to live in! So I am thankful for my country! I am thankful for my family, I have the greatest family in the world! I am the youngest of two brothers and even though they can be the worlds biggest idiots I still love them and I'm still thankful for them. My parents are still together (33 years now) and they are in great health so I am VERY thankful for that! And then there's me, I am thankful everyday that I am healthy, that I have an excellent job, and that there is a roof over my head and I have people that love me.

Now its your turn, tell me what you are thankful for and I will read them on the air thanksgiving Day! I don't care where your from or who you are, just leave me a comment about what you are thankful for, or e-mail it to me at tiamaria@1075zrock.com I really want to hear from you so be sure and do this for ok!

Thanksgiving dinner at the station!

Z-Rockers

I wish that you were here today to join in on the East Kentucky Broadcastings Thanksgiving dinner! I am looking so forward to digging in! So far, there is Pumpkin Rolls, Peanut Butter cakes, Chocolate cakes, casseroles, Chicken, Ham, Baked Beans, and there is still more coming!

that's one of the greatest things about working for a company that is owned by a single man, who is family oriented and kind. We get to have Thanksgivng dinners at work where EVERYONE gets to eat together, relax, and have a good time! Thanksgiving is a time of togetherness and most of the time co-workers don't really care about togetherness but here at the radio station we hold it high on our priorities list and I like it that way!

Tomorrow I will talk about what I am thankful for but right now the dinner bell is ringing and its time to eat so..............I'm off

WE GOT A PS3!!!!!!!!

It's been three days since my last blog and I am about to EXPLODE with information! Let me start by saying Happy Friday! Now on to what I did yesterday. As we all now Z-Rock is giving away a Playstation 3 but what you may not know is that even though we are a radio station we can't just wave a magic wand and poof have a PS3 to give away, so like everyone else we had to wait in line for one.

The line started 3 days ago in the Layaway area of Wal-Mart in Pikeville! Vernon Roberts, one of the employees here at the station was volunteered to go stand in this line so that we were sure to get a playstaiton 3 to give away to one lucky winner! Yesterday around 11:00 poor Vernon was tired, hungry, and in desperate need of a nice warm shower, so I being the nice person I am went down there and took his place. I met so many new people I am was actually glad I went down there to sit for three hours!

I met Josh, A waiter at the Landmark, he was happy to see me come because I was loud and took some of the attention off him, he wanted the attention took off him because earlier that day he had kicked a lady out of the line to get a PS3 and everyone thought he was a jerk and since I came and was talkative they were concentrating on me and not him being a jerk.

I met Kristin, a born again Christian (TOTALLY AWESOME)! She was sooo cool, I loved her, we played 20 questions about 15 times, (that game is crazy, it guessed what I was thinking EVERYTIME.) She and I shared beef jerky, and reese cups, I should have got her number so we could have stayed in touch!

Then there was this one guy Isaiah, he looked JUST LIKE my nephew Devon (only he was older) He was there with his lovely girlfriend, I thought it was so sweet, she was there just to keep him company. She had no other reason to sit in that line for hours and hours but she wanted to keep him company. (and girl the Big Red gum had something wrong with it for sure!)

Eddie...........Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, what can I say about Eddie! He and I fought almost the whole time I was down there! He used to work for the radio station, but way before I came along so I had no idea who he was, but he went to high school with a girl who had the same name as me and he kept saying I wish the other Tia was here! How mean was he!

Kyle was one of the people down there, he kept cheating while we were playing the famous people game, he kept butting in and cheating, so finally I told him he could join the game, and I think he actually won!

I had a fun time waiting on the PS3 and before I knew it Vernon had came back to take his place amongst the others waiting on a PS3! As I was leaving everyone pleaded for me to bring them all back Z-Rock shirt and of course I couldn't say no so I went back down to Wal-Mart and gave them all shirts! I will post the pictures of them in their Z-Rock shirts as soon as possible.

Remember who ever wins the PS3 from Z-Rock is one lucky person, we had to wait 3 days to get that thing! But that's just how much we love our listeners!

What a rip off!

Z-rockers

Whats the most exciteing thing that has ever happened to you? Around the holidays I always think about the little boy in the movie "A Christmas Story" who couldn't wait to get the de-coder from the jar of Ovaltine to find out what the secret message was only to find it spelled out drink your ovaltine (what a let down)! Things happen to us when we are children that we NEVER forget whether they are good or bad we don't forget them, Ralfie (from the movie) was so happy to get that de-coder in the mail only to be let down.

I will NEVER forget being 9 years old and in the 4th grade, our assignment was to write a letter to the president about something that concerned us and then the teacher was going actually send them to him! This was my chance to talk to the president! What ever would I say? I thought long and hard about what concerned me the most about the world. Weeks earlier Mrs.Porter my 4th grade teacher had taught us about Sweat Shops overseas and how kids our age where working 20 hour days getting only .10 cents making jeans to send over to America! That was it, I would ask the president to help those poor children working like dogs overseas in sweat shops!

My hand couldn't write the words down on my paper fast enough. I wrote about my concerns and how I thought he could help them out and how I would do ANYTHING I could to assist in rescueing these sweat shop working children! Finally I was done and my teacher came around and collected our envelopes and put stamps on them and sent them to Washington, my letter was on its way to make a difference! The teacher told us that it would take the president a while to read all of them and send us a response so we had to be patient.

Weeks passed and slowly but surly some of the other kids in my class were getting responses to their letters! Some kids just wrote the president with a quesiton like, "Do you like being president?" and "What's it like to live in the White House?" so their letters were easier to respond to rather than my letter which requested somehting as big as saving kids from sweat shops!

I waited what seemed like an enternity! All the kids in my class had gotten their letters back but me. Then one day during lunch my teacher brought me an envelope address to me from the president! OH MY GOSH! It was here my response, all those kids were going to be saved from sweat shops all because of MY letter! I opened the letter as fast as my nine year old hands would let me! I wanted to jump up and down with delight, I thought I have to get on the intercom and read this to the WHOLE school!

Good thing I didn't. The president (or better yet one of the presidents many, many, secretaries) had sent me a letter thanking me for my concern about POLLUTION! POLLUTION I thought, that wasn't what my letter was about! He didn't even read my letter, nobody did, they just took a stab in the dark that my letter was about pollution and sent me a stupid generic response letter! What a rip off! It turned me against pollitics forver!

I still haven't been able to save the poor kids in Sweat Shops!

Its Monday............. If you haven't noticed and I am about ready to unleash one of Monday morning Mood Swings!
There's no such thing as a perfect marriage especially NOT in Hollywood! Sure they live their lives in the spot light and still try to make things work but they rarely do. It's so funny when real couples are having trouble and when celebrity couples are having trouble the signs couldn't be more opposite!
When a celebrity marriage is on the rocks a publicist comes out and says, "No troubles here! Everything is fine. They have never been more in love than they are right now!"
Hello You!

When a real marriage is on the rocks a mother-in-law comes out and says, "he never was good for nothing, can't keep a job, he's a worthless breath of air."

When a spouse in a celebrity marriage gets cheated on they come out and say, "you know what he/she is going through a really rough time and I chose to believe my spouse rather than what the media has published about my husband/wife!

When a spouse in a real marriage gets cheated on they.....Slash your tires, burn your clothes, throw everything you own on the lawn, all the while calling a divorce lawyer!
When someone in a celebrity marriage is un-happy they fly themselves to Hawaii, go on never ending spending sprees and drink uncontrollably.

When someone in a real marriage is un-happy they do the same the only thing different is they can't afford it and go in to debt causing their un-happy marriage to be even more miserable.

I think that celebrities who get married are stupid its NOT going to last! Sorry, when Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippee split I lost all hope for celebrity marriages making it! The only way to make a marriage work is to be an average everyday nobody, even then, it's really hard to make things work but at least we are not looked at constantly like fish in a tank!

My most embarrassing Moment!

What's the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?

There has been so many humiliating things happen to me in my life that if I began telling you, I would NEVER stop! But since I want you to send me your most embarrassing moment, to read over the air, I will tell you one of my MANY MANY embarrassing moments.

Picture this, its the first day of high school, Freshman year. I was so nervous I remember thinking, I have to look perfect, not a hair out of place. Now, I am the most clumsy person in the world, I spill every drink I have, and it never fails I get toothpaste on every shirt (even if I don't brush my teeth.....go figure) So it only seemed logical to leave my new white button up shirt off until I was completely finished getting ready, so not to get A THING on it!

I finished brushing my teeth, and putting on my make-up and as I was heading out the door, I grabbed my new shirt and put it on. I DID IT, I got ready and was heading for school and my shirt stayed clean! All day I noticed people staring at me. I would just wave and say hi. One guy said "Does that mean your a A cup?" What did he mean an A cup? Surely he wasn't referring to what I thought he was referring to?....Was he? About that time my friend walked up to me and started laughing as she reached out her hand to my new shirt and pulled a sticker off my chest that said (small) in big black letters!

Are you kidding me! I had forgotten to pull the size sticker off my shirt and I had walked around school all day with SMALL stuck right across my left boob! HOW HUMILIATING! I thought I would never recover, I just knew that no one would ever let me live this down until 3 days later I slipped, fell, and my skirt went over my head,.....but that's a whole other story....ps I was wearing granny panties that day!

Now its your turn I spilled the beans, you have to now! Send me your most embarrassing moment to tiamaria@1075zrock.com and if your story gets picked as the most embarrassing moment I will read it on air and you will get a prize that will be worth your humiliation!

Big News!

Z-Rockers

We all know that I love celebrity gossip! I am the person who buys every single tabloid and reads them cover to cover I love it, but I have to say the strangest thing was hearing CNN reporting Brittany Spears had filed for divorce from Kevin Federline!

I assumed I would never hear ANYTHING pertaining to celebrity news on a "hard hitting" news program like CNN! But sure enough there it was right right before the war on terrorism, Brittany Spears has filed for divorce from husband Kevin Federline.

Which brings me to my point.....LEAVE CELEBRITY GOSSIP UP TO THE TABLOIDS AND STICK TO THE REAL NEWS! Its just sad that they reported her story along with other stories that were actually relevant to everyone's lives.

With that being said, let me shout it from the roof tops.......THANK YOU BRITTANY, its about time, he was a looser and holding you back, now don't get me wrong I love it when marriages between two people work out and they live happily ever after but honey he was no Prince Charming, he wasn't even a toad, he was worse! You get your two babies and take of yourself, let him go torture some other unsuspecting rich girl ( I hear Paris Hilton is single) anyways, although I'm glad Brittany filed for a much needed divorce, I am disappointed that news stations felt it was vital they announce it. Stick to the news it sounds a whole lot better!

The Ripple Effect!

Z-Rockers

Do you remember when you were 12 years old? There were just some things that we could NOT wait to do, like drive........ ok we get to do that at 16...... then we get to look forward to 18 when we can VOTE! How cool is that! I remember thinking Voting is going to be the coolest thing in the world, well it wasn't the coolest thing in the world. The actual voting process is slightly uneventful but the process of voting is not what is so VITAL! It's the effect that my vote (your vote) will have! It's like skipping a stone. The act of skipping a stone is relatively simple but that stone will ripple the water all the way out in to the middle of the lake. The whole lake changes for a minute and you were the reason it did. Imagine if everyone went out to the lake and skipped a stone, sure it may cause a tidal wave but you know what? You still made the lake change. My point is Vote! Vote and change the waters or keep the waters the same, either way, skip your stone.

Team Jessica or team Nick?

This morning's mood swing is about Celebrity Teams!

Yes, that's right celebrity teams. They are all over..... for example, are you team Jessica or team Nick. Are you Team Angelina ot team Jennifer. Are you team Shannon Mocklar (Travis Barkers ex) OR Paris Hilton (Travis's new girlfriend)? Are you team Mel Gibson or Team Jewish....No, no, no just kidding (I just through that one in there for a laugh.)

But seriously, its not exactly good verses evil and a clear good guy comes out on top but we all do tend to lean towards taking the sides of one or the other in these recent feuds between very well-known celebrities.

Lets take a second to chose sides.

I Tia Maria am team Nick, not Jessica although I have seen both of them in concert and feel like they both have friendly personalities. Nick is just my cup cup of tea. He's a manly man and he's REAL! Yeah, sorry Jessica but your a little fake. Now, I'm not saying that she is to blame for their split nor am I choosing sides on what made their marriage go down the drain, however I like Nick better, so much better in fact I bought a shirt that says Team Nick. Yeah not really but it sounds good!

Angelina and Jennifer WOW what a mess! Angelina, got pregnant by Brad Pitt, Jennifer's husband before they even really separated, now that's grounds for a good ole fashion Kentucky girl butt kickin but of course in true Hollywood fashion, Jennifer retreated to her mansion and moved on with Vince Vaughn. So who's team am I on TEAM JENNIFER HELLO! I don't even like Jennifer as an actress or really much as a person but what Angelina did was just so not ok. Anyways, I've never looked at Angelina Jolie as a person of substance and morals. Don't get me wrong she does good for starving children and is making a difference where it is needed, but I CAN'T relate with her character. Flat out, I wouldn't want my daughter (if I had one) doing as she has done with her previous life choices.

Now, on to Shannon Moklar and Paris Hilton. I have to say I am team Shannon Moklar. Paris making out with Shannon's soon to be ex husband and then having someone push Shannon down a flight of stairs, so not cool. And then Paris goes to the police and says that Shannon punched her come on Paris, GROW UP this isn't high school, but boy does it resemble it to a T!

So who's team are you on? When theres no clear cut good guy, bad guy its gets hard to choose.

Until Next Time, Be Safe, Have Fun, Listen to Z-Rock, Love ya

By the way don't forget to leave me a comment on who's team your on and why!

It's November 3rd and my pants are already tighter!

Z-Rockers

IT'S FRIDAY (just in case you didn't know!)

I am super excited that the weekend is here. No I don't have any big plans but still......Maybe on Sunday I will take a nice little drive down to Tennessee. It's so beautiful down there in the fall! Is it just me or does everyone else have the overwhelming urge to start eating lots and lots of food! I feel like a bear about ready to go in to hibernation, it's only November 3rd and I swear my pants are tighter. It's the holidays, and cold weather that makes me this way. I never cook but when Thanksgiving rolls around I turn in to Martha Stewart (minus the house arrest)....

I am such a dork that I have already watched 2 Christmas oriented movies and you know what? I may just have to go see The Santa Claus 3 this weekend! I know I know its a sickness but I just can't help myself. When I was in College (my glory days) I watched the movie ELF (Will Ferrell) everyday from November 1st until Christmas Day! Even at our Christmas party we played it on the big screen!

Are you all excited for the holidays? Please, send me some of your favorite Christmas stories, they can be funny, sweet, sad or strange. I love hearing from my listeners.

Point a finger and three more points at you!

Z-Rockers

There comes a time in your life when you will eventually stop pointing fingers and take responsibility for all your actions, whether they be good or bad. No one wants to hear this story but it needs to be told. An old friend e-mailed me and told me that he was very un happy and that he just wanted out of the situation he was in. He was unsatisfied with his job, his living arrangements, and just life in general. He and I had been friends since Middle school, and some how we ended up in the same college together taking the same classes. Our friendship sort of pick-up where it had left off. It was more like a brother, sister friendship. Every one said a boy and girl can't just be friends there is always more there. But, there never was with he and I, we were TRULY friends who fought, and laughed, and made fun of each other. Now this friend never was the most mature person, (sorry) he was just happy skateboarding and hanging out with friends. I on the other hand was super old for my age (which isn't a good thing) I mean I never missed a day of college, I always was home on the weekends, I never partied and I had some major goals set. I just knew what I wanted and I didnt think I had time for fun (which is a whole other story).

It was odd how he and I were friends we were like night and day, oil and water, ying and yang, well you get my point we were total opposites. After graduation I went on to work here at Z-Rock 107.5 and I got what I wanted. I didn't really know what happened to my good ole buddy. Until this morning when he e-mailed me, he said he was tired of his situation and he was going to (rather then wallow in self pity) change things. He was ready to take responsibility and realize that he is where he is cause he chose to be and now he was choosing to change it. I felt so proud, kind of like the mother who finally see's her son do his own laundry.

I learned something to (while reading his e-mail) I have learned to just point the finger at myself, no one at all is to blame for anything that happens to me but me. If I do something stupid, well guess what? I was the idiot who did it. My point is...... you will some day realize that your mom was right all along, never point a finger cause you will have 3 more pointing back at you............

Play Station 3....Here's your chance!

Z-Rockers

What do you want for Christmas this year? Let me guess a Play Station 3? Well I hate to break it to you but its soooo not happening! Unless, of course you want to stand out in the cold for 3 days in a line of strangers, and I am so sure that's on your top favorite things to do right? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Well have you heard the news? Z-Rock along with some sponsors are giving you a chance to win a Play Station 3. I think all you have to do is walk in to participating business's and write down your info, but I will let you all know the details! Its super exciting! I just hate that I can't enter! That's the down fall to working at a radio station, you are automatically disqualified from any contest, but you know getting a chance to win a PS3 for this Christmas is almost worth quitting work over hahahahaha! Just kidding!

Just thought I would give you all the heads up! Figured you all would want to know. Listen to Z-Rock 107.5 for more details!
